Owen and Mzee were an unlikely pair—a young hippopotamus and an elderly tortoise who formed an extraordinary bond after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Separated from his herd, Owen found refuge at a Kenyan wildlife sanctuary where Mzee became his closest companion and adoptive parent. This heartwarming true story, told by Roberta Edwards, captures their remarkable friendship and shows how compassion and connection transcend species. A touching testament to resilience, family, and the power of friendship in the face of loss.
